University Registration

All first year students are pre-registered for classes.  However, if you have not completed your MMR clearance with Student Health Services, your registration will be cancelled.

First year students may register for 2 additional classes during the Fall & Spring semester which are held on either Morningside or Medical Center campus at no additional charge.  This is done during the change of program period by filling out an add/drop form.  Please bring the form to the Registrar’s office which is located at 1-141 Black Building with a signed consent from your Dean’s Office and any other signatures necessary.

Please use our website at: http://cumc.columbia.edu/student/admin.   If you have any other questions about registration, please feel free to call (212)342-4790.

Columbia University Identification Card

All members of the Columbia University Medical Center community must present a current University ID to gain access to the Medical Center buildings. The University ID card allows automated, authorized access to secured University locations; allows access to libraries and the gym, where applicable; and enables students to take advantage of cultural discount programs such as “Passport to New York.” For more information about the CUMC University ID, visit the CUMC ID Office website at http://cumc.columbia.edu/id/.

How to get an ID
In order to receive a University ID, students must be able to verify their identity and current registration status. Bring a government-issued picture ID and either a copy of your registration or your UNI to the ID Office.

Photo Submission
In order to expedite new students’ ID acquisition, the ID Office strongly encourages prior submission of photos. This will greatly reduce wait time and shorten lines during orientation and the first few weeks of classes, when the ID Office sees a high volume of new students. The following link has helpful information regarding the taking of photos: http://www.ica.gov.sg/apples/faq/photo_image.html.

Please submit a JPEG photo to Krystyna Cukrowski in the P&S Office of Student Affairs (kc17@columbia.edu). If the picture does not conform to the standards outlined in the page linked above, the ID will not be printed, and you must come to the ID Office during regular business hours to get your new University ID.

Office Hours
Students arriving before August 18 can avoid the crowds by stopping by our office during regular business hours to take a picture. Our regular office hours are as follows:
Mondays 9:00-5:00, Tuesdays 9:00-5:00, Wednesdays 9:00-6:00, Thursdays 9:00-5:00, Fridays 8:30-5:00

To try to accommodate students unable to send in a photo, the ID Office will extend their office hours. Their tentative schedule is as follows:
Monday-Wednesday, August 18, 19, 20; and 25, 26, 27: 8:00 AM-6:00 PM
