Allen O. Whipple Surgical Society

The Allen O. Whipple Surgical Society provides an opportunity for those students who wish to learn more about careers in Surgery. The Whipple Society meets regularly throughout the year and provides both didactic as well as clinical exposure to surgery. The Society addresses such diverse topics as how to become involved in surgical research, how to match in a surgery residency, the history of surgery, the lifestyle of a surgical attending and how to manage a family life with a career in surgery. The club meets in both formal and informal settings and includes both lecture formats as well as group discussions. The Whipple Society serves as a direct pathway of communication to the Department of Surgery, including its attendings, researchers and residents. The club represents the interests of the students of P&S and the educators from the Department of Surgery. Everyone is invited to join the club, regardless of what your future career plans may be!!
