Reflexions Literary Magazine |
|
Reflexions is the literary and art magazine of the Columbia University Medical Center. We plan to publish one issue per year, a spring issue.
Reflexions accepts previously unpublished submissions of poetry, fiction, non-fiction, art, and photography. Submissions do not necessarily have to deal with health-related or healthcare-related themes; we publish works on all subjects. In the past, we have published work by faculty, staff, and students from all the CUMC schools. Due to space limitations, we prefer that individual prose submissions not exceed 4500 words in length. This is just a general rule of thumb. Works that were slightly longer than 4500 words have been accepted in the past. If we accept a prose submission that exceeds 4500 words, the author of the piece will be contacted and asked to shorten his/her piece under the guidance of a Reflexions editor. The tentative deadline for the spring issue is December 1st. Send submissions to cumc-reflexions@columbia.edu. In Dec./Jan. writers will be notified of whether their submissions have been accepted; minor proofreads and edits (usually length-related) will generally be suggested at that time. ART GUIDELINES: Each artist may submit up to 10 works of art. E-mail all images as digital files to cumc-reflexions@columbia.edu. All common file formats (jpg, tiff, pdf, etc.) are accepted. The pixel size, etc., is left up to the discretion of the artist." A very limited number of sample copies of past issues are available in the P&S Club Office (Bard Hall, room 106). If you have any questions, please contact the current editors. |
