Family Medicine Interest Group |
|
The Family Medicine Interest Group is a student-run information network. Its purpose is to provide support for medical students who are investigating careers in Family Medicine, and to inform students who are interested in learning what family physicians do. The FMIG sponsors a wide variety of programs, from advisory meetings for students of different classes to trips to national conferences; from panel discussions with New York City Family Practice doctors and residents to city-wide gatherings for New York City medical students. Our primary activity is connecting current P&S students with practicing Family Medicine doctors in clinical preceptorships, summer internships and mentoring relationships in New York City and across the country. Responsibility for planning activities is shared by all members of the group, according to individual interests. Membership requires only an interest in learning about the specialty, not commitment to a career. We are excited to welcome a growing segment of the student body each year. |
