Emergency Medicine Interest Group |
|
The Emergency Medicine Interest Group provides an opportunity for students to gain early exposure to this fast-paced and extremely diverse specialty. The group meets throughout the year and aims to give students a glimpse into life as an emergency physician, as well as to introduce basic knowledge and skills used in the ED. Past meetings have included demonstrations on suturing and splinting, clinical discussions on how to approach patients in the ED with common complaints such as abdominal and chest pain, and a workshop in wilderness medicine. In addition, students have the opportunity to learn about other aspects of the specialty, including international emergency medicine, prehospital care, toxicology, and pediatric emergency medicine, and to be connected with faculty and resident mentors. All meetings are conducted with the support of the faculty and residents of the New York-Presbyterian Emergency Medicine residency program. The EMIG is open to all P&S students, and we look forward to sharing the excitement of emergency medicine with you! |
