AMWA is an advocate for women's health issues from both patient and caregiver perspectives.  We promote recognition and appreciation of women's contributions to medicine of the past, present, and future. AMWA supports women and all minorities in having their perspectives and concerns regarding medicine and health care to be heard.  We recognize the importance of a support network and sense of community in the pursuit improving health care in its constant evolution.

The Women's Health Interest Group is also part of AMWA. We sponsor lunches, talks and trips to promote awareness and increase knowledge of medical students about women's health.

AMWA also arranges and sponsors individual breakfasts for female interviewees and first and second year women.
