Space Medicine Club

The Space Medicine Club provides a forum for students to learn about and discuss the science and medicine relating to human space flight, to discuss what lessons from space medicine can be applied to earthly medicine, and to provide a source of medically related inspiration in a way that is important to the national interest, as human spaceflight to Mars by 2030 is a stated goal of both NASA and the fast growing commercial space flight industry.

We also aim to discuss space medicine, specifically relating to topics covered in core courses of the P&S biomedical curriculum (Molecular Mechanisms, Body, Health and Disease, Gross Anatomy); Learn how physiology in space is different from physiology on earth and what the implications are for medicine; Discuss how health care delivery in space can be compared to healthcare delivery on the ground; Expose CUMC students to the growing career opportunities in space medicine.
