John C. Wood, Jr. M.D. '76 Memorial Tournament
Save the Date: Saturday, November 4, 2017

It's a sunny afternoon - smoke from the grill permeates the air, friends raise their beverages (frequently) and watch a group of young men with a clearly impaired sense of personal safety smash into each other in a contest of athleticism, barbarism, and later, hepatic fortitude. Sound familiar?  While much has changed at P&S, the Rugby Football Club is proudly, stubbornly stuck in its ways. Students come and doctors go, but this unique tradition has weathered the times.

This fall marks the 45th anniversary of the team and the 35th anniversary of the Wood Tournament. The late Dr. John Wood Jr. was the driving force behind the creation of the Rugby Club in 1972. In 1981 he tragically lost his life steps from Presbyterian Hospital where he was a surgical resident. The following fall, the Club he founded named an annual tournament in his honor, and we've held it with heartfelt tenacity ever since.
Please join us on Saturday, November 4 at Randall's Island, Field TBA for a day of rugby, lots of food and beverages and raucous fun. Put on your rugby shirt rep the former players and challenge us to an Alumni vs. Students touch rugby game. We will make it an event worthy of Dr. Wood's name, and we would love for you to be there!

Please RSVP to Taylor Hudson with the number of guests who will be attending to ensure we will have enough food/drink for everyone!  Also feel free to email if you have any questions.

Whether or not you attend our tournament, please help us to endow and solidify the future of the P&S Rugby Team by contacting Laura Gilbert in the P&S Alumni Office, or send a check to the P&S Club, 50 Haven Avenue, New York, NY 10032.

You should always know you have our gratitude in keeping alive a fine P&S tradition and one of Dr. Wood's gifts to the past, current and future students at P&S.
