CUMC Symphony Orchestra

The CUMC Symphony Orchestra is composed of students, faculty, and staff from the many schools and departments of Columbia University Medical Center, including GSAS, Mailman School of Public Health, School of Nursing, College of Physicians and Surgeons, Institute of Human Nutrition, and more. Founded by Drs. Julie Lin and Frank David in 1992, the Columbia University Medical Center Symphony Orchestra (CUMCSO) was revived in 2013. With nearly 60 musicians, we perform three concerts per year, two in the fall semester and one in the spring.

Our mission is to use orchestra music and symphonic concerts to bring together the diverse population of the CUMC community, including students, teachers, researchers, clinicians, healthcare workers, staff, and patients and their families. Our goals for the year are to provide students and other members of the campus community with the opportunity to expand their musical talents and to present outstanding concerts to the campus community and beyond. Please email for more information about upcoming performances.
